What kids do

“Cut out the cards. Play memory: a match is a picture of tens and ones and the number it shows.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. How to play: cut out the cards and mix them up face down. Take turns flipping two. A match? Keep it and go again. The player with the most pairs wins.

Teacher tip

Have kids count the tens rods first, then the ones.

How to use it

  • Store each set in a labeled bag or envelope.
  • Start with fewer cards for younger players.
  • Use it as a center, an early finisher choice, an indoor recess activity or a sub day page.

Watch for

Kids who do not wait their turn. Practice the routine first.

Talk about it

  • How did you remember where the cards were?
  • What strategy did you use?

Take it further

Play it as a quick whole-class game on the board.
