What kids do

“Pick a person from history. Read about them, then fill in each box.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Born (when and where):
  2. 3 important facts
  3. A challenge they faced, and how they handled it
  4. How they changed the world
  5. My sources (books or websites)

Teacher tip

Model it with one person as a class before kids work alone.

How to use it

  • Let kids pick from a list of people you have books about.
  • Use the sheet as a plan for a short report or presentation.
  • Start with a quick question that connects the topic to kids’ own lives.

Watch for

Kids who copy whole sentences from a book. Teach them to write facts in their own words.

Talk about it

  • What made this person brave or determined?
  • What question would you ask an expert on this topic?

Take it further

Make a class timeline of the people kids researched.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
