What kids do

“Plan a whole unit over four weeks: what students should know by the end and the big steps to get there.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. By the end, students will know…
  2. By the end, students will be able to…
  3. Final project or test
  4. Books, videos and materials

Teacher tip

Start with the big question and work backward to plan each week.

How to use it

  • Fill it in digitally or by hand, and keep a copy in your sub folder.
  • Plan a week ahead so you can gather materials in time.
  • Print it on colored paper so kids and helpers can spot it quickly.

Watch for

Plans so packed there is no room for reteaching. Leave a flex block each week.

Talk about it

  • What will I do for students who need more help?
  • What is one thing that went well this week?
