What kids do

“The caller reads a division fact. Work out the answer and cover it on your card. Five in a row wins!”

Teacher tip

Give kids scrap paper for the two-digit quotients.

How to use it

  • Cut the caller cards ahead of time and keep them in an envelope.
  • Use counters, beans or crayons to cover squares so cards can be reused.
  • Slide it into a sheet protector so kids can play again with a dry-erase marker.

Watch for

Kids who mark without solving. Ask winners to read back their squares.

Talk about it

  • Which squares were easy to find?
  • What strategy did you use?

Take it further

Play for a full card (blackout) for a longer game.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
