Teacher tip

Talk about why bees, worms and ladybugs are good for gardens.

How to use it

  • Go on a bug hunt with magnifying glasses before the sheet.
  • Count legs on pictures together: insects have six, spiders have eight.
  • Start with a two-minute “I notice, I wonder” talk about the picture on the sheet.

Watch for

Teach kids to look, not touch, and to put bugs back where they found them.

Talk about it

  • How can you tell an insect from a spider?
  • How could we find out if that is true?

Take it further

Keep a class bug log on a chart near the door.
