What kids do

“Read the story. Circle every “there”, “that”, “walk” and “with”. Count how many you found!”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Read the story. Circle the words.
  2. There is a robot that likes to walk. “Where are you going?” I ask. “I want to walk with you,” says the robot. “I think that is a good plan!” We walk out to the park. There are ducks there. The robot likes that.

Teacher tip

Use a different color for each word kids hunt for.

How to use it

  • Keep a sight word ring of flash cards so kids can check spellings.
  • Send a copy home so families can play too.
  • Read every word on the sheet out loud together before kids start.

Watch for

Kids who guess from the first letter. Ask them to look at the whole word, all the way to the end.

Talk about it

  • Which words look alike? How do you tell them apart?
  • Which word was the hardest to read? Why?

Take it further

Ask kids to use two of the words in one sentence and draw it.
