New Book Release: Trace Then Color – Cool Stuff 2
I’m thrilled to announce the release of my newest book — Trace Then Color: Cool Stuff 2! This latest addition to my Art Books for Kids collection is packed with fun, creativity, and imagination. It’s a cool tracing and coloring book designed to help kids explore art in a hands-on, screen-free way while having a ton of fun along the journey.
If your child loves to trace, color, and create their own artwork, this book is made for them. With pages full of awesome themes like dinosaurs, animals, robots, cartoon people, aliens, and creatures, Trace Then Color: Cool Stuff 2 is perfect for young artists who want to try something new and exciting.
About the Book
Trace Then Color: Cool Stuff 2 continues where the first Cool Stuff book left off — giving kids a whole new collection of creative and entertaining artwork to trace and color. Inside, you’ll find 50 brand-new pages of cool, imaginative drawings — each one hand-drawn by me, Kevin Coulston, the creator of over 80 Art Books for Kids.
This isn’t a generic AI-generated activity book — every line, shape, and detail in this cool tracing and coloring book was drawn by hand. My goal is to make tracing and coloring both fun and skill-building, giving kids a chance to work with authentic, expressive artwork that feels alive and full of personality.
Each page begins with a bold outline of an original drawing that kids can trace right over. Once they’ve traced their masterpiece, they can color it in any way they want — giving them the freedom to express themselves and explore creativity in their own unique style.
What’s Inside
This cool tracing and coloring book features:
- 50 original hand-drawn illustrations of all kinds of “cool stuff”
- A variety of themes, including dinosaurs, animals, robots, cartoon people, aliens, and creatures
- Thick, clean line art perfect for tracing and coloring
- Large pages designed for easy drawing and coloring
- Suitable for kids ages 3 and up
The art is designed to be simple enough for beginners to enjoy, while still interesting and detailed enough to keep older kids engaged. Whether your child loves cute animals, awesome robots, or silly characters, there’s something in this book for everyone.
How It Helps Kids Learn
Tracing is one of the best ways for kids to develop early drawing skills. It helps them:
- Improve their hand-eye coordination
- Build line control and confidence with a pencil
- Understand shapes, balance, and proportion
- Practice patience and focus in a fun and creative way
When combined with coloring, tracing becomes an even more enriching artistic activity. Kids can choose their favorite colors, experiment with shading, and bring each illustration to life in their own way. This balance between structure and freedom is what makes Trace Then Color books so enjoyable — and why they’ve become a favorite among parents and kids alike.
Trace Then Color: Cool Stuff 2 gives children the satisfaction of creating art that looks great every time while helping them learn valuable drawing fundamentals.
Part of a Growing Series
This new release joins my ever-growing Art Books for Kids series, which now includes more than 80 titles across three main formats:
- How to Draw – Step-by-step guides that teach drawing in six simple steps.
- Trace Then Color – Tracing and coloring books designed to build hand control and creative confidence.
- Draw by Grid – Grid-based drawing books that help kids learn proportions and spatial awareness.
Each series offers something different, and many books share the same themes — so kids can enjoy drawing the same characters in multiple ways. For example, Cool Stuff 2 is also available in other versions, including How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2 and Draw by Grid: Cool Stuff 2 (coming soon). Each version gives kids a new way to experience the same fun and imaginative content
About the Artist
I’m Kevin Coulston, the author and illustrator behind Trace Then Color: Cool Stuff 2 and more than 80 other Art Books for Kids. Every single drawing in this cool tracing and coloring book — and in all my books — is hand-drawn by me. I never use AI or digital art shortcuts. My focus has always been on giving kids real, authentic artwork that inspires creativity and teaches genuine artistic skills.
Each page in Cool Stuff 2 was designed to be fun, approachable, and full of energy. I wanted to create a book that keeps kids smiling and drawing — the kind of book that makes them excited to sit down with a pencil and make something new.
Why Kids (and Parents) Love It
Parents love the Trace Then Color series because it encourages kids to step away from screens and spend time doing something creative. It’s not just about coloring — it’s about learning to draw, improving focus, and gaining confidence in art.
Kids love it because it’s fun and easy to follow. They get to trace their favorite designs, color them however they want, and end up with something they can be proud of. There’s a great balance of structure and imagination, and every page offers a new surprise.
This cool tracing and coloring book gives kids a chance to explore all kinds of fun subjects — from dinosaurs to robots — and each page feels like a brand-new creative adventure.
