Baby Robots Drawing Book – Announcing My Newest How to Draw Book for Kids

I’m excited to officially announce my newest release: How to Draw: Baby Robots, a brand new Baby Robots Drawing Book designed to make learning how to draw fun, simple, and confidence-building for kids.

If your child loves robots but feels unsure about drawing, this book was created specifically for them. The focus is not on complicated mechanical details. Instead, it’s all about cute, expressive baby robot characters that are easy to draw and full of personality.

This Baby Robots Drawing Book continues my mission of helping kids realize that drawing is something they can learn step by step.

What Makes This Baby Robots Drawing Book Different

Robots are often drawn with heavy details, sharp angles, and complex mechanical parts. That can be overwhelming for beginners. In How to Draw: Baby Robots, I intentionally kept the designs rounded, soft, and approachable.

Each robot is broken down into simple stages:

  • Start with basic shapes
  • Add facial features
  • Build small details
  • Finish with a complete character

By following the steps, kids see the drawing come together in a way that feels manageable. The goal is not perfection. The goal is progress and confidence.

This Baby Robots Drawing Book is designed so that even a child who says, “I can’t draw,” can complete a robot and feel proud of it.

How to Draw: Baby Robots

Why Baby Robots?

Baby Robots are the perfect combination of cute and creative. They allow kids to explore imagination without needing realism. A robot shaped like a baby bottle. A tiny robot with oversized eyes. A round robot with stubby arms and simple antennae.

Because these characters are not meant to look realistic, there is less pressure. That freedom encourages creativity and experimentation.

In this Baby Robots Drawing Book, every character is designed to feel friendly and fun. The rounded shapes and expressive faces make them appealing to younger artists and beginners.

Also Available in Tracing and Grid Formats

If your child prefers a different learning style, this book is also available in multiple formats.

There is a Trace Then Color: Baby Robots version for kids who want to trace first before drawing on their own. Tracing helps build pencil control and hand confidence, especially for younger artists.

There is also a Draw by Grid: Baby Robots version. The grid method teaches observation and proportion skills by allowing kids to copy the drawing square by square. This approach builds patience and accuracy while still keeping the robots cute and approachable.

All three formats work together. Some families even use them in progression: start with tracing, move to grid drawing, then graduate to the step-by-step How to Draw version.

No matter which format they choose, the focus remains the same: build confidence through success.

Part of My Art Books for Kids Series

How to Draw: Baby Robots is part of my larger Art Books for Kids series. Over the years, I’ve created more than 90 drawing and activity books designed to help kids build skills in a way that feels fun rather than overwhelming.

My series includes:

Each book is designed around one simple principle: break things down into clear, achievable steps.

The Baby Robots Drawing Book fits right into that mission. It uses the same structured approach that has helped thousands of kids build drawing confidence across animals, dinosaurs, monsters, robots, and more.

About Me, the Author

I’m Kevin Coulston, the author and illustrator of the Art Books for Kids series. I create and draw every character by hand, and my focus has always been on making drawing feel possible.

When I started creating drawing books, I saw how often kids would get frustrated trying to copy complicated images. I wanted to remove that frustration. Instead of throwing kids into detailed drawings, I break everything into simple stages that build naturally from one step to the next.

With the Baby Robots Drawing Book, I kept that same philosophy. The robots are intentionally simple, expressive, and fun to draw. Kids do not need prior experience. They just need a pencil and the willingness to try.

Learn to Draw Baby Robots

A New Addition to the Series

I’m always working on expanding the Art Books for Kids collection, and I’m excited to add this Baby Robots Drawing Book to the lineup.

If your child enjoys cute characters, imaginative designs, and step-by-step learning, this book is a great addition to your art shelf. And if they enjoy this one, the Trace Then Color and Draw by Grid versions offer even more ways to explore the same baby robot characters.

My goal with every new book is the same: help kids realize that drawing is not about talent. It’s about learning the process.

How to Draw: Baby Robots continues that mission, one cute robot at a time.

About Draw by Grid: Baby Robots

Draw by Grid: Baby Robots is part of my Draw by Grid series, which focuses on helping kids draw by breaking images into simple sections. This book features a variety of cute baby robot characters, all designed to feel friendly, approachable, and fun to draw.

Each robot in the book starts with a completed grid reference and a blank grid for kids to draw on. The characters are intentionally designed to be cute and expressive, not overly detailed, so kids can focus on learning the process instead of getting frustrated.

The Baby Bottle Robot is a great example of the style used throughout the book. It’s playful, clear, and designed to build confidence through success.

What Is a Baby Bottle Robot?

The Baby Bottle Robot is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a robot character inspired by a baby’s milk bottle, combined with simple robot features like arms, legs, a diaper, and a friendly face. The design is intentionally soft and rounded so it feels cute instead of mechanical or intimidating.

When kids learn to draw a Baby Bottle Robot, they aren’t just copying a picture. They’re learning how to break a character into sections, understand spacing, and recreate an image using visual guides. The grid turns a complex idea into something manageable and fun.

Because the character is based on such a familiar object, kids instantly connect with it. That familiarity makes the drawing process feel less stressful and more playful.

Learn to Draw Baby Robots

How the Draw by Grid Page Works

The free page from Draw by Grid: Baby Robots uses a simple grid system that guides kids through the drawing process. The original drawing is shown on a grid, and kids recreate it square by square on their own blank grid.

This method is especially helpful for beginners. Instead of worrying about the whole drawing at once, kids focus on one small section at a time. That makes learning how to draw a Baby Bottle Robot feel achievable, even for kids who think drawing is hard.

The grid method helps with:

  • Understanding proportions
  • Improving observation skills
  • Building patience and focus
  • Increasing drawing accuracy

By the time the drawing is complete, kids often surprise themselves with how good it looks.

Browse All ‘Draw by Grid’ Themes

Also Available as Trace Then Color

If your child prefers tracing before drawing freehand, this book is also available in the Trace Then Color format. That version allows kids to trace the robot characters first, then color them in.

Tracing helps younger kids or beginners build hand control and familiarity with shapes before moving on to drawing independently. Many families like to use both formats together, starting with Trace Then Color and then moving on to Draw by Grid when kids are ready for a bit more challenge.

Being able to draw a Baby Bottle Robot in multiple ways gives kids more opportunities to learn and practice without pressure.

Trace Then Color: Baby Robots

Step-by-Step How to Draw Version Coming Soon

For kids who enjoy following clear steps from start to finish, a Step-by-Step How to Draw version of Baby Robots is coming soon. That format will break each robot down into simple drawing stages, starting with basic shapes and gradually adding details.

Between Trace Then Color, Draw by Grid, and the upcoming How to Draw version, kids will be able to learn these robot characters using the method that works best for them.

The goal across all formats is the same: make drawing fun, approachable, and confidence-building.

About the Artist

I’m the artist and creator behind Draw by Grid: Baby Robots and all of the drawing books in my series. I design and illustrate every character by hand, with a focus on making drawing feel accessible to kids of all skill levels.

My approach is always about breaking things down. Whether it’s drawing robots, animals, or fantasy characters, I want kids to feel like they can succeed instead of feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

The Baby Bottle Robot was created with that exact goal in mind. It’s simple, friendly, and designed to make kids smile while they learn how to draw.

Why Grid Drawing Works So Well for Robot Dinosaurs

Robot dinosaurs are a perfect match for grid drawing. They combine recognizable animal shapes with mechanical elements, which can be tricky to place correctly without a guide.

Using a grid to learn How to Draw A Robot Dinosaur helps kids:

  • Improve observation skills
  • Understand proportions
  • Place details accurately
  • Stay focused without feeling overwhelmed

The grid gives structure, but it doesn’t limit creativity. Once kids understand the process, they often start designing their own robot dinosaurs inspired by what they’ve learned.

Building Confidence Through Structure

Some kids love freehand drawing, while others feel more comfortable with a bit of structure. Grid drawing provides that structure without taking away creativity.

Learning How to Draw A Robot Dinosaur using a grid helps kids build confidence quickly. They can see progress as each square is completed, which makes the overall drawing feel less intimidating.

That confidence often carries over into other drawing styles as well.

This wrecking ball robot is just one of many characters inside Draw by Grid: Cartoon Robots. The book is filled with unique hand-drawn designs, each one built to help kids slowly improve their drawing skills while still having fun. Every robot in the book has its own personality—some are cute, some silly, some mechanical, some more creature-like—but all are designed with kids in mind.

One of the biggest advantages of the Draw by Grid method is how much it strengthens observation skills. Even younger kids can follow along, because each square becomes its own tiny task. And as always, the art in the book is completely hand-drawn by me, because part of what makes these books special is the human-made nature of each character. Kids respond differently when the artwork feels warm, expressive, and designed just for them.

Why Kids Love Learning How to Draw A Wrecking Ball Robot

Robots are always a hit with young artists, but this one stands out for a few reasons. When kids learn How to Draw A Wrecking Ball Robot, they instantly connect with the playful nature of the design. The swinging ball head, the friendly smile, the tank tread—it all makes the character feel fun and approachable.

Kids love this activity because:

  • Robots spark imaginative stories
  • The design has both simple and detailed areas
  • The grid method gives a clear path to success
  • They can color and customize the robot after drawing

I’ve heard from so many parents that their kids enjoy redrawing this robot again and again because every attempt feels slightly different. Some color the wrecking ball robot to look metallic; some make him wild and colorful; some redesign the gears or face. That flexibility is one of the reasons pages like this help kids stay engaged long-term.

Three exposed gears decorate the tread system, giving kids just enough detail to feel cool without overwhelming them.

The grid method makes this especially approachable. When kids learn How to Draw A Wrecking Ball Robot through the Draw by Grid system, they take the drawing one small square at a time. That removes the intimidation factor and helps them focus on shapes, proportion, and placement—skills that naturally transfer to all other drawing they do.

The free page also encourages kids to:

  • Look closely at each part of the robot
  • Break down details into simple shapes
  • Follow the grid line by line
  • Build confidence as the character comes together

By the time they finish, kids won’t just know How to Draw A Wrecking Ball Robot—they’ll feel proud that they created a complete cartoon robot on their own.

About the Book: Trace Then Color: Baby Robots

The full book Trace Then Color: Baby Robots contains 50 original baby robot characters, all drawn by me by hand—no AI, no reused elements. Each page begins with a clear set of tracing lines that help kids learn structure, shape, and line control. Once the tracing is done, kids get their favorite crayons or markers and jump into coloring the character however they’d like. Every character is unique, imaginative, and built to help young artists laugh, learn, and get creative.

Some baby robots in the book have square heads and goofy grins. Others have round bodies, floppy robot arms, bouncy springs, or big expressive eyes. Some have jet boosters, some have little wheels, and some have silly robot baby accessories like bibs, pacifiers, or soft blankets. And each one is built to be fun to trace and color—especially for younger artists who are still mastering fine motor skills.

Because this is part of my Trace Then Color series, the book follows a consistent format that parents have loved for years. The bold, easy-to-follow outlines make it friendly for kids ages 3 and up, but even older kids have fun putting their own spin on these characters. Kids can color them realistically, like shiny metal and bright lights, or treat them as totally silly baby robots with wild colors and funny expressions.

This Baby Robot Coloring Page is just one example of the imaginative characters inside the book.

Why Kids Love the Baby Robots Theme

Baby robots are an ideal subject for young artists because they combine two things kids love: cute characters and imaginative gadgets. The characters are playful and expressive, but their shapes are simple—triangles, circles, rectangles, and soft curved lines. That means kids don’t get frustrated trying to draw precise, technical robot designs. Instead, they get to enjoy characters that feel friendly, approachable, and full of personality.

The Baby Robot Coloring Page shows exactly why this theme works so well. Kids can immediately recognize the character as a robot, but because it’s a “baby,” the design is soft, cute, and unintimidating. Young artists feel encouraged, not overwhelmed, and that helps them stay excited and want to keep going through the rest of the book.

Creative Skills Kids Build with a Baby Robot Coloring Page

Tracing and coloring pages like this support early drawing development in a number of ways. A Baby Robot Coloring Page helps kids practice following outlines, develop hand steadiness, and learn how basic shapes come together to form characters. Coloring afterward allows them to express creativity, experiment with color combinations, and practice filling in shapes neatly.

As they continue through the book, kids naturally start adding more detail to their artwork. They begin learning about proportion, silhouette, and the difference between large, medium, and small shapes. This happens organically—through fun characters, not through formal lessons. And that’s the entire point of books like Trace Then Color: Baby Robots: learning through play.

Also Available in Other Drawing Styles

Like most of my themes, Baby Robots will also appear in additional formats—How to Draw and Draw by Grid. Many families enjoy having multiple versions because each format teaches drawing in a slightly different way:

  • Trace Then Color (the book featured today) supports early learners and beginners.
  • How to Draw teaches kids step-by-step drawing processes. (Coming Soon)
  • Draw by Grid encourages focus, observation, and proportion skills.

Parents can choose the format that suits their child best—or combine them for a more complete drawing journey.

Part of a Much Larger Art Books for Kids Series

Trace Then Color: Baby Robots is part of my Art Books for Kids series. Every character in every book is hand-drawn by me with pencils and ink before being scanned and prepared for printing. I take pride in creating original, kid-friendly art designed specifically to help children learn to draw, trace, and create.

View All 80+ Activity Books for Kids

The full series now includes books about cartoon animals, food monsters, unicorns, dinosaurs, Crusty Goobers, robots, aliens, fairies, baby animals, holiday themes, and so much more. Each book gives kids a different way to engage with art, develop skills, and enjoy screen-free fun.

If your child enjoys today’s Baby Robot Coloring Page, they’re going to have a great time exploring everything the full series has to offer.

About Today’s Free Baby Robot Coloring Page

This Baby Robot Coloring Page comes directly from the full book and reflects exactly how the rest of the characters are designed. The character is a triangular baby robot with soft edges and a playful expression that young artists instantly connect with. Its diaper, little arms and legs, and tiny tooth all help give this character that adorable “baby bot” look that makes this page so much fun to trace and color.

The page is built to support beginners. Kids start by tracing the bold, clear outlines that make up the triangular body, the single eye, the diaper shape, and all the robot details. Once they finish tracing, they can jump straight into coloring, which gives them a sense of completion and helps build confidence as they start creating artwork on their own. That’s the strength of a Baby Robot Coloring Page—it gives kids structure while still letting them explore their imagination.

Free Activity Page (save and print):

Kids can color the baby robot however they want—soft pastels, bright neon robot colors, metallic shades, or anything that inspires them. They can add sparkles, gears, stars, or even a little robot nursery scene around the character. The goal is simple: give kids a fun, screen-free creative activity that keeps them engaged and helps them grow artistically.

Color 50 Different Baby Robots

Closing Thoughts

I hope your young artist enjoys this free Baby Robot Coloring Page as much as I enjoyed creating it. It’s a fun introduction to the characters inside Trace Then Color: Baby Robots, and a great way to give kids a simple, creative activity that builds confidence and imagination.

If they enjoy tracing and coloring today’s baby robot character, the full book—and the rest of the series—offers plenty more characters to explore.

Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg — Free Grid Drawing Page from Draw by Grid: Alien Cyborgs

If your kids love robots, aliens, or anything that mixes science fiction with silly cartoon character design, I’ve got something fun to share today. I’m releasing a brand-new free grid drawing page straight from my book Draw by Grid: Alien Cyborgs—and this one features a goofy, mechanical creature with five unevenly spaced eyes, two oversized ears, and a robotic body. It’s a great introduction to grid drawing, a kid-friendly challenge, and a fun way to help young artists practice their observation and drawing skills.

Get The Book!

Before we jump into the free activity page, I want to talk a bit about the book it comes from and how the Draw by Grid method helps kids learn to draw in a structured, confidence-building way. Whether your child wants to learn how to Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg, a robot dinosaur, a mutant animal, or any other fun creature, the grid method is one of the easiest and most effective entry points.

About the Book: Draw by Grid: Alien Cyborgs

Draw by Grid: Alien Cyborgs is part of my larger Art Books for Kids series and features 50 original alien-robot hybrid characters, all hand-drawn by me—no AI, no clipart, no recycled artwork. Every page challenges kids to focus, observe, and recreate a character one square at a time using a simple grid structure. The characters in this book range from floating eyeball cyborgs to robot-helmet creatures to spindly alien critters with mechanical appendages. Some look silly, some look strange, and all of them are designed to capture kids’ attention and imagination.

Learn to Draw Alien Cyborgs

This brand-new free page features one of my personal favorites—the alien cyborg with five eyes arranged unevenly across his face, two big goofy ears, and a squat robot body with mechanical details. If your child wants to Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg, this page gives them everything they need to do it successfully.

What Makes the Draw by Grid Method So Effective

If you’ve never used a grid drawing book before, here’s why kids respond so well to it:

  • It breaks drawings into manageable pieces Instead of seeing one big complex character, kids focus on tiny, simple sections.
  • It builds patience and attention to detail The process encourages careful observation without overwhelming young artists.
  • It teaches proportion naturally The grid keeps everything lined up, even when the character has five eyes or oddly shaped robot parts.
  • It boosts drawing confidence When kids finish the page and realize they successfully recreated a character, they feel proud—and ready to keep going.

Draw by Grid

Learning to Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg becomes less intimidating because the drawing is broken down into simple square-by-square chunks.

Why Kids Love Drawing Alien Cyborgs

Alien cyborgs are one of the most flexible and imaginative subjects in the entire series. Kids naturally gravitate toward them because:

  • There are no rules
  • They can be as goofy, weird, or futuristic as kids want
  • They blend organic and robotic shapes
  • Expressions and features can be exaggerated
  • Every alien looks unique

That’s what makes learning how to Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg so appealing. A creature with five uneven eyes, two huge ears, and a boxy robot body is meant to look unusual—and kids love that freedom. They don’t worry about perfection because the character itself is designed to be imperfect in a fun way.

A Free Grid Drawing Page — Learn to Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg

Now let’s talk about the free page. The character featured on this page is a small, quirky alien cyborg with:

  • Five eyes unevenly spaced across his face
  • Two big floppy ears sticking out from the sides
  • A robotic body with mechanical arms and blocky legs
  • A friendly, slightly confused expression

This page walks your child through how to Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg using a simple 1:1 grid. Kids look at the square on the left, then redraw what they see in the matching square on the right. By the time they finish the last square, they’ve completed a detailed character without feeling overwhelmed. Kids can:

  • Outline the character
  • Add details square by square
  • Trace their final lines
  • Color the character when finished

It’s an approachable, screen-free activity that works well for home, classrooms, art time, or just something fun to do on a quiet afternoon.

About the Draw by Grid Series

This book is part of the larger Draw by Grid collection, which now includes books featuring:

  • Baby Animals
  • Cartoon Robots
  • Food Monsters
  • Cartoon Dinosaurs
  • Silly Faces
  • Mutant Animals
  • And more

Each book introduces a new theme while using the same grid drawing approach that helps kids build consistency and confidence. Whether they want to draw robots, monsters, animals, or aliens, the grid format keeps them motivated and makes more complex drawings feel achievable.

Learn to Draw

Every character across all my books—including the one on today’s free page—is hand-drawn by me, Kevin Coulston. I don’t rely on AI or automated tools. Every line is built intentionally so kids are learning from real artwork created just for them. If your child enjoys learning how to Draw a 5-Eyed Alien Cyborg, they’ll enjoy the other books in the Draw by Grid line just as much.

Why Parents Love This Series

Parents tell me all the time that the Draw by Grid books help their kids:

  • Stay engaged
  • Develop focus
  • Build artistic confidence
  • Improve drawing accuracy
  • Develop patience while still having fun

It’s a great alternative to screens and an activity that gives kids a sense of accomplishment when they finish each page.

How It Helps Kids Learn

Tracing is one of the best ways for kids to develop early drawing skills. It helps them:

  • Improve their hand-eye coordination
  • Build line control and confidence with a pencil
  • Understand shapes, balance, and proportion
  • Practice patience and focus in a fun and creative way

When combined with coloring, tracing becomes an even more enriching artistic activity. Kids can choose their favorite colors, experiment with shading, and bring each illustration to life in their own way. This balance between structure and freedom is what makes Trace Then Color books so enjoyable — and why they’ve become a favorite among parents and kids alike.

Trace Then Color: Cool Stuff 2 gives children the satisfaction of creating art that looks great every time while helping them learn valuable drawing fundamentals.

About the Book

Draw by Grid: Baby Robots makes learning to draw easy and enjoyable. Each page features a charming baby robot drawn in a cute cartoon style — think small bodies, big expressive eyes, gears, and buttons — all designed to be friendly, simple, and fun for kids to draw. Using the grid system, young artists can learn to draw baby robots one square at a time. This method breaks down each drawing into smaller, more manageable sections, helping kids improve their accuracy, focus, and overall drawing confidence.

The book includes a variety of baby robot characters, from robot pets and helpers to mechanical creatures and silly little bots with big personalities. Each one has its own unique design and playful energy, giving kids a range of fun drawings to try.

Like all of my Draw by Grid books, this one was entirely hand-drawn by me, Kevin Coulston, without the use of AI. Every character is created from scratch to ensure a personal touch and a consistent art style that kids recognize and love across the entire series.

What’s Inside

  • 50 unique baby robot characters to draw using the grid method
  • Easy-to-follow examples perfect for ages 5+

Part of a Growing Series

Draw by Grid: Baby Robots joins a growing library of Art Books for Kids that now includes over 80 titles. Each series offers a different way to learn and create:

  • The How to Draw series breaks drawings down into six simple steps.
  • The Trace Then Color series helps kids trace and color fun, themed artwork.
  • The Draw by Grid series, like this one, focuses on improving precision and structure through the grid method.

Each format is designed to meet kids at their current skill level and give them a sense of accomplishment with every page they finish. The same themes often appear across all three series, so kids can enjoy drawing the same characters in multiple ways — whether they’re tracing, drawing step-by-step, or working with grids.

Drawing Books for Kids

If your child enjoyed Trace Then Color: Baby Robots, they’ll love this new version. It offers a fresh challenge that encourages focus and builds stronger drawing skills while keeping things fun and approachable.

Hand-Drawn Art by Kevin Coulston

As with all my books, every single drawing in Draw by Grid: Baby Robots was created by hand. I don’t use AI or automated tools — just pencil, pen, and plenty of imagination. My goal is to give kids authentic artwork to learn from — drawings that feel warm, expressive, and filled with character.

Each robot is designed to be cute and a little silly — you might find a baby robot dog, a tiny flying bot, or even one in a diaper! These fun, lighthearted designs help kids stay engaged and excited as they learn to draw baby robots step by step.

Today I’m sharing something special – a free page from my newest drawing book, How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2! This particular page will walk you step-by-step through How to Draw a Silly Dinosaur. This dinosaur is on all fours, has a spiney back, a goofy cartoon face, and even resembles an alligator. He’s one of my personal favorites from the book, and now you can try drawing him at home for free.

This book is rated ages 5+, making it perfect for kids, classrooms, and anyone who loves learning how to draw fun and imaginative characters. And as always, all the artwork in the book is completely hand-drawn by me, Kevin Coulston.

About the Free Page

This free tutorial is pulled straight from the pages of How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2. I chose the silly dinosaur because he’s a perfect example of how you can create a detailed yet approachable character by following simple steps. In this tutorial, you’ll learn How to Draw a Silly Dinosaur starting with basic shapes, then adding fun details like his spines, legs, and that goofy grin that makes him stand out.

I break down the process into clear, easy-to-follow steps so young artists don’t feel overwhelmed. By the end, you’ll have a finished cartoon dinosaur that you can customize with your own colors, patterns, or even accessories. Want to give him a pirate hat? Go for it. Add sunglasses? Absolutely. That’s the beauty of learning How to Draw a Silly Dinosaur – once you master the basic shapes, the creative possibilities are endless.

About How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2

How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2 is the follow-up to my original How to Draw: Cool Stuff book. This second volume takes everything that made the first book so popular and adds even more variety. You’ll find characters from a wide range of themes, including:

  • Dinosaurs (like our silly, spiney-backed friend)
  • Animals
  • People
  • Robots
  • Aliens
  • And much more

With 50 step-by-step tutorials inside, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re into prehistoric creatures, sci-fi adventures, or everyday characters, this book gives you the tools to bring them to life.

And just like the silly dinosaur tutorial, every single page in How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2 uses simple steps so artists of all skill levels can follow along. Even if you’ve never drawn before, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can pick it up.

How the Series Began

The How to Draw: Cool Stuff series started because I wanted to create a collection of books that combined variety, creativity, and simplicity. I’ve always believed that learning to draw should be fun and rewarding, not intimidating. That’s why I design each tutorial to be beginner-friendly but still engaging for more experienced artists.

The first How to Draw: Cool Stuff quickly became a favorite among kids, parents, and teachers. It was packed with characters from all sorts of themes, and the positive response inspired me to start working on volume two.

With How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2, I wanted to make sure every page felt fresh and exciting. That’s why you’ll find a mix of silly animals, cool robots, fun people, and plenty of dinosaurs – including today’s free How to Draw a Silly Dinosaur tutorial.

Why Kids Love Drawing Silly Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs are already fascinating creatures, but when you give them exaggerated features, funny expressions, and playful proportions, they become even more fun to draw. The silly dinosaur in this tutorial has an extra-long tail, a wide goofy smile, and spines that make him instantly recognizable.

Learning How to Draw a Silly Dinosaur is also a great way for kids to build their drawing skills. You’ll practice drawing curves, adding texture, and balancing proportions – all while creating a character that’s full of personality.

Hand-Drawn Art by Kevin Coulston

One thing I always emphasize is that every page in my books is hand-drawn by me. I don’t use digital shortcuts or stock art. Instead, I sit down with my sketchbook and draw each character from scratch, making sure every tutorial flows naturally from step one to the finished drawing.

Learn to Draw

When you follow the How to Draw a Silly Dinosaur tutorial, you’re seeing my original artwork exactly as I drew it. I think that gives the books a personal touch that’s missing from a lot of mass-produced activity books.

Get Creative Beyond the Tutorial

Once you’ve mastered How to Draw a Silly Dinosaur from the free page, I encourage you to make it your own. Change his expression. Give him a silly hat. Put him in a scene with other dinosaurs or animals from How to Draw: Cool Stuff 2.

Drawing isn’t just about following instructions – it’s about using those instructions as a springboard for your imagination. That’s why I love including characters like this dinosaur in my books. They’re a perfect starting point for creative storytelling and design.
